World Water Day 2024 observed at SPMR College of Commerce

NSS Units of Govt. SPMR College of Commerce, Jammu in collaboration with Dept. of EVS and Eco-Club under the aegis of IQAC organized a field visit to Sewage Treatment Plant, Bhagwati Nagar Jammu to commemorate World Water Day, 2024. The trip was flagged off by the Principal of the college, Dr. Rajinder Singh. Speaking on the occasion, he highlighted the importance of Clean Water in our lives and the ways by which human beings degrade water resources. He urged the students to ponder upon the prevalent issue of depletion of water resources and water pollution. He exhorted them to participate in more such community activities regarding water conservation.
During the trip, the students were given practical demonstration about analysis of different parameters of water quality. The students also visited the Sewage Treatment Plant installed and learnt about the various procedures such as primary and secondary treatment of Sewage, chlorination and sludge collection. About 40 students participated in the field visit and raised many queries which were addressed by the technical staff. Mr. Vinod, Incharge STP Jammu supervised the visit at the treatment plant. The visit was coordinated and managed by Prof. Deepshikha Sharma, NSS PO, Prof. Esha Abrol, HOD EVS, Dr. Deepak Pathania, NSS PO and Convener Eco-Club and Dr. Neeru Devi Anand, HOD Dogri.
