Inter-College Skit Competition on “Nasha Mukt Bharat for Viksit Bharat” Organized at Govt. SPMR College of Commerce, Jammu

Govt. SPMR College of Commerce, Jammu, in collaboration
with the Dean Student Welfare, Cluster University of Jammu, organized an
Inter-College Skit Competition on the theme “Nasha Mukt Bharat for Viksit
Bharat”. The event aimed to raise awareness about the pressing issue of drug
abuse among youth and to encourage collective responsibility towards
building a drug-free and progressive India.
The programme started with traditional lighting of the lamp. The competition
witnessed enthusiastic participation from various constituent and affiliated
colleges / Schools under Cluster University of Jammu. Students showcased
impactful performances that highlighted the social, psychological, and
economic consequences of drugs abuse, while also emphasizing the
importance of awareness, rehabilitation, and community action.
Principal of Govt. SPMR College of Commerce, Prof. (Dr.) Rajinder Singh,
appreciated the efforts of the participants and commended the initiative,
stating that youth are the torchbearers of Viksit Bharat, and such creative
platforms not only sensitize them towards critical social issues but also
inspire them to take a stand for positive change.
The event was graced by Prof. D S Manhas, Dean Student Welfare, Cluster
University of Jammu. The panel of judges comprised eminent academicians
and theatre experts, Sh. Shashi Bhushan and Sh. Ravinder Sharma, who
evaluated the performances based on creativity, relevance to the theme, and
overall impact. The judges also lauded the college for organizing the
competition and emphasized the role of students in promoting the vision of a
drug-free India.
Govt. College of Education, Jammu secured first place, followed by Govt.
MAM College Jammu and PSPS GCW Gandhinagar, Jammu. Winners of the
competition were felicitated with certificates. The event concluded with a
formal vote of thanks delivered by Prof Shaji Khan, acknowledging the

support of the college administration, participating institutions, and the
organizing committee.
The entire programme was coordinated by Prof. Monika Mahajan
(Convener), who also presented the welcome address and committee
members including Dr. Sunal Sharma, Prof. Sanjeev Verma, Prof. Shallu
Gupta, Dr. Jagmeet Kour, Prof. Binny Kumar, Dr. Roomi Rani, Prof. Esha
Abrol, Dr. Deepak Pathania, and Dr. Neeru Anand. The programme was
compered by Dr. Fayza.
The program successfully combined art and social awareness, leaving a
lasting message for students and the community at large about their role in
achieving the vision of a “Nasha Mukt Bharat for Viksit Bharat.”
Among those who were present on the occasion were Dr Reena Rani, HOD
Economics, Dr. Mohd. Azam, HOD URDU, Dr Chetna Gupta, HOD English,
Prof Ashwini Kumar, HOD Hindi, Prof Ashraf Nawaz and Dr Deepshikha
Sharma.
