Debate Competition on “Viksit Bharat and Youth Involvement” at Govt. SPMR College of Commerce, Jammu
Viksit Bharat Committee of Govt. SPMR College of Commerce organized a
debate competition on the theme “Viksit Bharat and Youth Involvement”
under the Viksit Bharat Yuva Connect Programme. Principal of the College
Prof. (Dr.) Rajinder Singh was chief guest on the occasion. The event aimed to
foster critical thinking and civic responsibility among students by
encouraging them to articulate their vision for a developed India by 2047.
The competition witnessed spirited participation from a large number of
students from different semesters. Contestants passionately deliberated on
the pivotal role of youth in nation‑building, highlighting avenues such as
entrepreneurship, digital transformation, sustainable development, and
community leadership.
Principal of the College Prof. (Dr.) Rajinder Singh, while addressing the
gathering, noted that youth are not just the future but the present driving
force of India’s development journey. He pointed out that discussions like
these enable young minds to engage with national goals and discover their
responsibility in shaping Viksit Bharat 2047. He applauded the participants
for their compelling arguments and stressed on initiatives like MY Bharat
Portal and Skill India Mission that empower youth to be active stakeholders
in India’s growth story.
A distinguished panel comprising Dr. Chetna Gupta and Dr. Deepshikha
Sharma adjudicated the competition based on content, presentation, and
rebuttal skills of the students. In the competition, the first position was
secured by Taranpreet Kour, while the second place went to Ridham. Third
place was jointly secured by Aanaya Tandon and Bhoomika Sharma.
The event was coordinated by Viksit Bharat committee under the able
guidance of Prof. Monika Mahajan (Convener). The programme was
compered by Dr. Sunal Sharma, who managed the proceedings of the
occasion. Among those who were present on the occasion included Dr. Reena
Rani, Dr. Mohd. Azam, Prof. Shaji Khan, Prof. Binny Kumar, Prof. Anwar-Ul-
Haq, Prof. Khalid and Prof. Shallu Gupta.
