Mega Health Camp Organized at Govt. SPMR College of Commerce
Jammu, September 29: On the occasion of World Heart Day, Rotary Club Jammu Tawi in collaboration with Govt. SPMR College of Commerce, Jammu and MMM Multi Speciality Hospital Jammu organised a Mega Health Camp on Monday, September 29, at 11:00 AM. The event was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of Cluster University of Jammu, Prof. K.S. Chandershekhar, who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
The programme began with a rendition of the National Anthem and lighting of lamp, followed by a formal welcome address by Dr. Sandhya Bharadwaj, who also managed the proceedings for the event. This was followed by collaring the President of the Rotary Club Jammu Tawi.
Speaking on the occasion, Principal of the College, Prof. (Dr.) Rajinder Singh, expressed gratitude to the medical experts and the Rotary Club Jammu Tawi for their valuable support in making the camp a success. He urged students and staff to take proactive steps toward maintaining good health and well-being.
Addressing the gathering, the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) K S Chandrasekar highlighted the significance of such health initiatives in educational institutions. He commended the college for taking the lead in promoting wellness and preventive healthcare among staff, students, and the wider community, and advised the students to follow the example of the Rotary Club Jammu Tawi for nation building.
In her speech, President Rotary Club Jammu Tawi Dr. Shivani Choudhary talked about the importance of regular checkups for students, and said that stress management was essential to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
The health camp brought together eminent medical professionals to provide free consultations and diagnostic services for the welfare of the college community and members of the Rotary Club Jammu Tawi. Renowned cardiologist Dr. Neeraj Mahajan delivered an insightful talk on heart health and awareness, besides extending his OPD services to the participants.
Adding to the camp’s wide-ranging healthcare facilities, Dr. Neha Sharma, a distinguished dental surgeon from Smile Craft Multispeciality Dental Clinic and Implant Centre, conducted dental check-ups for patients.The camp also facilitated free blood tests related to cardiac health, underscoring the importance of preventive care and early diagnosis.
Among those present on the occasion included Dr. Twinkle Suri Dean Academic Affairs CLUJ, Prof. R. S. Jamwal, Secy Rotary Club Jammu Tawi, and PDG Dr. Dushyant Choudhary. The camp also witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculty, staff, members of the Rotary Club Jammu Tawi, and students reflecting the collective commitment to health awareness and community service.
From Govt. SPMR College of Commerce, the programme was coordinated by Prof. Monika Mahajan, Dr. Madhu Bala, Dr. Roomi Rani, Prof. Esha Abrol, Dr. Neeru Anand, and Prof. Shaji Khan.
Formal vote of thanks was proposed by formal Rotary Club Jammu Tawi President Rtn Balwinder Singh.
